Weekend Recap

Well, unfortunately the weather was aweful starting Saturday evening after we hiked up Vernal Falls. It was a great 3 mile, straight up hike and back. Then we wandered around the valley floor before I showered and we went to set up Happy Hour. Everybody ate all the food I brought so that made me happy, and I sold more YSC apparel. However, when that rain rolled in Saturday evening so did the freezing temperatures! I almost froze to death saturday night, no matter how close Jonas held me I couldn't stop chattering, so Sunday without any doubt I took my truck and drove home. Jonas carpooled with a nice young couple from Sweden so he stayed behind and drove back Monday. I just can't believe this weather, it's supposed to be "record breaking rain" this saturday!? It is JUNE, it's usually warm by now! Anyhow, we leave for our trip in just about a week, so hopefully we will get better weather on our trip than we have been having here!

Yosemite!

3 years ago this weekend was when it all began, well not began but when it got serious for Jonas and I. 3 years ago this weekend Jonas and I and Artem(who read for the wedding ceromony at the ski lodge) went to Yosemite and Jonas and I couldn't keep our hands off eachother! It was the worst weather but we didn't care, we had so much fun! Then to Yosemite we again went camping in September of 08 and that is where Jonas first told me he loved me =). It will be nice to be up there again with him and some our friends from the YSC. Unfortunatley Artem won't be there, Jonas really misses him, and I do to. He is a fun guy!

Sundays...

As I sit on my bed, laptop on lap, 2 cats on my feet, I hear the wind in the trees and my nieghbors annoying high pitched bell she has hanging that makes a slight ting ting with every gust. One time when I knew she wasn't home I got my broom and with my long arms stuck it over the fence and unhooked it...that worked for about 3 weeks. I also hear my husband, Jonas, playing Wii out in the front room, aahhh Sundays! He is smoking ribs and artichokes again today as it was such a great dinner a few weeks back. It is a peaceful day, not the nicest of weather, so I don't feel guilty being inside, afterall I hiked yesterday morning and it was beautiful!

The last few months I have been working hard for the Young Scandinavians Club We had a really successful party last night and I snuck out at midnight after having only 1 glass of Sangria! Jonas didn't even come because he had to work yesterday as the SFMOMA has a new exhibit and with it different requirements for security. We also had a nice lunch yesterday with my good friend for her 30th birthday, her brother and their family and her parents. It was really nice, and fun to all be together. Did I mention how cute the kids are in her family!?

Anyhow, today I am gearing up for the YSC Yosemite camping trip for next weekend which is Memorial Day, already! Basically me and another girl on the Board are splitting all the duties. I am borrowing my dad's truck and driving up a bunch of supplies Friday morning. I went through Jonas and I's camping stuff too. It's been a while since we've camped. I bought us a new LED lantern and a flashlight, a cool backpack that has a cooler on the bottom section that fits up to 12 cans, so it will be good for day hikes at Yosemite or wherever, maybe I should bring it to Sweden?

But now I am just going to relax on my bed and study some Swedish! I am going to make some Swedish flashcards, so I can learn the vocabulary a bit more before our trip. I get the grammar part, and the pronounciation is coming along, but it's all about the vocab now. Language was my best subject in high school, all A's and a 4 on the AP. So I know how to learn and what I need to do, and that is writing down, flashcards, and listening to my CD when I'm driving. I'm not promising to be fluent in 2 weeks but hopefully it will be a little easier for me on this trip to Sweden vs the last one. Luckily for the Tegneruds, I'll be able to communicate with the Spaniards in Mallorca ;)

One of my favorite quotes is pulled out of this poem. Jonas and I would talk about this line all the time when we were just beginning to date, and it always calmed me and made me realize everything happens for a reason, and everything is going to be ok no matter what the situation. The funny thing is this was spawned when my friend Kelly, who we are visiting in London, gave me this exerpt of the poem as a canvas to hang on your wall.

Life and Progesterone

So, we worked our butts off yesterday repainting our rental unit, sealing the granite countertops, and doing some minor repairs and cleaning to get it ready for our new tenants who have their movers here as we speak. They are a nice young couple, and hopefully won't give us the attitude our prior tenants gave. Geesh..so as a celebratory dinner we went up to the The Mountain House for a nice dinner. I have to say what I ordered was so good I could have eaten it all. Imagine gorgonzola fettucini, with bacon, tomatos and grilled chicken!!! Hello heart attack on a plate and I didn't feel guilty for eating it all! As we sat in the restaurant we listened to the POURING rain, and it was cold! It's cold today and rainy, I just hope that it warms back up for our Yosemite trip over Memorial Day weekend.

On another note, I met with my OBGYN a few week ago. We talked about the fact that it's been a year and we're not pregnant, AND that I don't have a fallopian tube on one side so I am different and I definately want to start the process of getting help. So I had my first blood test Friday which was to test progesterone on day 21-23 to see if I ovulated and the results were almost immediate. I have another blood draw on day 3 of my next cycle. Jonas already had his ahem, stuff, tested and it's normal. So then when we get back from Sweden we are to meet, the both of us, with the doctor and discuss the plan to have baby Aksel or Else! So because I want to try to figure things out on my own, I used Dr Google and found the later days of my cycle my progesterone should be 2ng/ml and higher and mine was 1.2 ...hahaha..NOT surprised, looks like I didn't ovulate...could Clomid be in my future? I hope so, and if twins are the result bring it! ...Stay tuned....

Couples Without Kids Wine Party

So I had this idea months ago and it finally came to fruition this past Saturday! Jonas and I wanted to have a wine tasting dinner party, but instead of sitting down and having a formal dinner we just cooked lots of tapas to compliment the different wines. It was a fun fun night! We had some new and old friends there, it was a nice mix. I didn't want to offend any of my friends with kids/babies so I never really talked about this get together, but in all reality couples without kids are in a different place than people with babies. We drink more and don't worry about getting home to babysitters! Anyhow we had a prize for the couple who won the tasting game, however 2 couples in the taste off kep guessing right! So to find a winner we had a chugging contest with beer. Ha! Laura won! It was too funny! And surprisingly Spencer, my brother, debuted his new girlfriend! After the wine and food we had some desert and our friends Julie and Jason brought a hooka and sat outside and hung out.

spontaneity..it's good

Yesterday was a wonderful day! I got to visit my good friend and her new baby boy and there was no traffic through the city, the weather was just gorgeous, he didn't cry when I held him(too much)! He is just precious and being with them made me realize how excited I am to be a Mom too.
So as I was driving home across the Golden Gate Bridge, I thought wow, this is the prefect day to sit outside on the coast and drink some wine. So I texted Jonas to see if he could get off work a little early, not thinking he would be able to and suggested we go to http://http//www.mossbeachdistillery.com/ . To my surprise he said yes! So I went and picked him up and we had some wine, and sat out on the deck in the sun, and had a great date afternoon/night! You can kind of see Jonas sitting on that bench.

It is so rare that the sun is shining on the coast and there is NO FOG! We had to take advantage of it!! Then we went to http://http//www.samschowderhouse.com/ and he ordered a Lobster. Now this is a little extravagant, but what the hell you only live once! Seriously, as I sat there with my friend and her little baby earlier in the day, I just realized that it is so close for us, the being parents thing. So since we are free from that kind of responsibility for a few more months, why not enjoy every day and do whatever we want while we can?? So that's what we did, and it was great!

Otherwise our yard is finished for now, Jonas made a few more planter boxes around so the vines we planted can really get their roots down into the ground. The orange flowering vine is called a "black eyed Susan" How does a vine get that name??

The other 2 are Morning Glory vines with big purple flowers later in the season.

And the 2 in the corner are Potato Vines. Speaking of potatoes, we had 1 DK potato that produced 2 little ones. So we planted those 2 potato's in our planter box about 6 weeks ago, and we were a little disappointed that they did not produce a small green plant, so we dug them up and one of them completely disappeared, the other one looks dead. We don't know though. But today I went out there to see that since we took off the netting above our planter box because our leeks and Squash are growing really fast, that the cats decided to use the planter box, where the potatoes are planted, as a kitty litter...grrr... so I dug up our one potato and am going to sit it in the window to see if it turns green. Otherwise it's dead and that means we will have to smuggle another few home from our trip!

This is a picture of the one potato I dug up, the basil that I planted and you can see our hanging Topsy Turvey tomato plant! It has a few growing! I love to see our yard grow, something therapeutic about it for me
