Busy Weekend

Well, it's Monday morning and I'm still tired from the weekend. I worked Friday and Saturday. Saturday night we went to a friends house for dinner and she cooked an amazing and healthy meal! WOW! I had to get the recipe's. We also drank a lot of good red wine...which definately left it's effects the next day!

Sunday I pushed myself to go on a hike in the rain to feel better, which helped slightly, and then Jonas and I went to YSC election. I've taken a 2 year time out from being on the YSC (young scandinavians club) committee or Board while my personal life kinda got in order. Now though I have the time to help this social club, which not only introduced me to my best friends but my husband! I want to see it continue to grow and gain new members and of course help throw some fabulous events etc. I was elected to a 3 year term, so let's see if I can make it that long! Believe it or not the politics are out of control, but there are some fresh people elected in with me so we will see if things once and for all change for the better!

We had a good downpour Saturday night and yesterday so now it's another week of sun! I planted my leeks in the planter outside now, and our 2 potatis have turned green so maybe a few more days in the sun and then we were thinking of putting them in some pots in the house til the spring arrives. Lastly Jonas finished the new back door covering! Yay!

This coming weekend we are getting out the jack hammer and taking out all the concrete along the side of the house so we get better drainage over there, because right now the water just pools up! So here is a picture of the side of the house now and next week I will post the after!

Is it Spring?

We have had 10 days of beautiful warm spring like weather, I have to admit I love it! Apparently all the bulbs I planted are loving it too because a few of them are starting to sprout and will probably bloom in the next week or 2! I wanted to post a few pictures of the new blueberry plants I put in a half barrel;

Our potato vines in the corner are really starting to grow too!

Here is a picture of the front of the house, all the jade plants are blossomming, and you can't really tell but many of the bulbs are peeking out of the dirt!

I also planted some bulbs in our pots with jade so we can put them around the house.

Then here are 2 pictures of before and after, where we had to dig up the pipe and deal with that ugly mess last month, and now the temporary look.

We have a few more projects to get done but we are glad that this one is behind us!

Lastly we got 2 nypotatis out of our smuggled danish potato! They will sit in the window for a month before we put them back in the ground. In the pots around the potato's are some leek seeds that are sprouting, and then I will need to put those outside as well! That green grass like pot is catnip for the kitties!

And here is what our fat cat Tiger does all day....sit on our bed!

1 Year of Marraige!

Well it's official we've been married 1 whole year! What a year it's been, we bought a house, took a great trip and are working on a family! So to celebrate of course we went up to Reno to celebrate! We had some good food, beautiful weather and we kinda skiied, but the snow quality wasn't that great.

We also got a nice surprise from the Silver Legacy as we went back to our room one night and found a complimentary bottle of champage and chocolate covered strawberries!

Saturday night we went back to our favorite restaurant Roxy's and had a very good dinner! It was very busy, but we had a table near the room where we had our wedding dinner and it was great to remember that night a year ago, and our friends and my Dad's speech and having so much love around us!

Project

Today we leave for Reno to celebrate 1 year of marraige! Boy how time flies, I guess the biggest thing that happened in the last year is we bought our house and everything that comes with that! Here are some pictures of the project I assigned Jonas. I wanted some privacy and shelter from the rain at our back door since this is the one we use on a daily basis. He won't have time this weekend to finish it but hopefully next weekend. I need to paint the new wood the same color next week too, and since there is NO rain in the forecast for at least another 7 days I can paint it and then it will be dried so Jonas can do the rest.
Next project is getting rid of all the concrete on the other side of the house and building a trench so the water can run out to the street via a pump of some sort and then getting a new fence installed along our house. That will be nice because the current one is full of termite damage and it's so low that our neighbor can look right in our bedrooms!

January

What a difference a year makes! At this time last year we were hosting Jonas's parents, we went to Hawaii with them, and we got married! This January, nothing, nothing nothing! My work schedule has been light so I have been hiking almost every day, and fixing around the house.

This weekend Jonas and I went on our first wine tasting date of the year! It was beautiful weather, I mean absolutely perfect, about 70 degrees, no clouds and barely a breeze! We went to 5 new places, which was a nice change.

Today Monday, Jonas had the day off so he started building a frame around our back door so we can have a cover over the door. He worked so hard on it, and it's not done yet. Meanwhile I worked in our yard planted some blueberry and strawberrys plants and a ton of gladiolus bulbs!! Our front yard will be full of flowers this spring!
