Daughters
Well, we decided to go to this place around here and pay the $58 to do a gender scan! I did it Saturday morning and told the tech to write the sex in a card and put it in the envelope I brought. Jonas and I planned on surprising Spencer and Kelly that night and open it all together. Well everything went as planned and well?? We are having another girl! I knew it! We both knew it, actually. Sisters, daughters whoa, family of 4!? It's starting to all settle in now. We need a new house, with all these girls we need bigger closets!

where to start
We had a great weekend, lots of driving involved but it was worth every mile to see some of our closest friends. I wish we had more close friends nearby. The closest friends we had, is the 44 year old pregnant woman who is just a horribly rude and selfish person and has just taken advantage of me for so long that I finally woke up and just told her to get out of my life. Isn't it a shame that you can't rely on somebody for last minute babysitting situations, when they can totally rely on you and have taken advantage of your being able to accommodate them in a crunch? Yeah so, I see no need to be friends with her anymore.
Anyhow, so this morning was one of my routine prenatal checkups. Everything was fine and the "baby in my belly" I tell Elsa. It still has a heartbeat. Now, more importantly, the appointment has been scheduled for the ultrasound where we can find out if it's a boy or girl. We have to wait until April 17th. I'm thinking why not do the $58 find out the sex of your baby ultrasound places around here. I didn't do it last time, might be fun to try this time.
So my biggest complaint to my Dr was about my excruciating back pain this go around. She said being pregnant is a "full time job" just like being a stay at home Mom to a toddler, and that I'm lifting hundreds of time a day and my muscles are loosening and my body is working overtime. And you now what really bugs me, when Jonas comes home and I say I need to go lay on my heating pad, you get Elsa, he says "I've been working all day, when do I get a break?" Never, you're a Dad now and when you decide to make a baby you are "on" 100% of the time. It's tough work, exhausting, and sometimes mind numbingly dull. I can't tell you the most popular songs on the radio because we listen to is Mo' Music CD in the car so Elsa won't cry, thus all songs in my head are baby music class songs or baby signing time. If I happen to find a minute or two to myself while Elsa is napping I have a crazy dog up in my busines, this dog as sweet as she is, is really annoying sometimes. So my back pain, well not much I can do, maybe I'll find some prenatal Yoga class to start. But what I really want is a reliable babysitter/PT nanny that can come to our house and just watch and play with Elsa for like 4-5 hours a day 3 days a week. I'm putting my feelers out there to find somebody and hopefully it will work out, especially when this next baby comes.

Words
Ok Ok, I have been skimping on actually writing on this blog and instead have just been posting lots of pics to appease the family in Sweden, I know this! Jonas has been getting on me to write more so after a very busy morning here I am. Elsa is napping (but due to wake up at any moment) the dog is napping, the cat is napping and I just woke up from a nap myself....with acid indigestion of course. Ooohhhh to be pregnant!
I feel so weird about it right now because I'm not far enough along to really show, and I don't have as many symptoms so most days I wonder if the baby still has a heartbeat. I know that is so sinister of me to think but I feel like I know quite a few people who have lost their babies after the first trimester. My Mom said to me today "Oh Jennifer, you're just too busy to sit there and feel every movement!" I guess that's true. It's also still early. I have my next prenatal appt Monday hopefully all is well. Then I will make my appt for the big ultrasound, the one where they make sure the heart looks formed, and well you know, you can find out the gender. I guess it's kind of a trend now to not find out?? It feels like a lot of people don't find out but Jonas and I are not those kind of people. We want to know.
After the 12 week NT Ultrasound I had my girlfriend who now has a 6 month old boy, (and a 2 1/2 yr old daughter) who did not find out, but kind of figured it out on her own told me about the "angle of the dangle" theory of the nub you may be able to see in your ultrasound. Too bad I wasn't aware of this during the ultrasound, but anyhow after scrutinizing the picture, my conclusion is girl and you know what people? I would be so excited to have another girl. In a world that seems to be giving birth to only boys, somebody has to have the girls! Elsa is illegally cute, and so damn smart.
She totally understands me when I say "what is in your mouth" she will open her mouth and spit out into my hand whatever it is she has in there(thank God no cat poop ever!) and I think to myself, when did you learn this, who taught you this?? Today she said "gama" when my Mom walked in the house, AMAZING, melted our hearts! Elsa and her "gama" have such a love for each other and I have to say she does have my Mom's eyes it seems, but we'll never really know who she looks like until she's 18. She also knows "hat" of course form the baby signing time videos, so she taps her head whenever she sees one of her hats. She loves it when I put a hat on her, then she runs to her mirror looks at herself and smiles and then takes it off. The funniest thing ever is sometimes I let her into me and Jonas's bathroom, and I have my bra on the hook and she started to look at it one time and started to tap her head like it's a "hat" bahahahaha, no honey, not a hat. She also knows "belly or tummy" and points to it, her foot, toes, teeth, mouth, I mean all of a sudden she understands everything. She loves cheese and says "teez" and of course she is obsessed with Pirates Booty, and when I give her some she does her happy dance, so cute! She even points to her bottles when she wants her naps! Yes I still give her 2-3 bottles a day, but we brush her teeth, she does let Jonas brush her teeth in the bath so hopefully she has the good teeth genetics from me and Jonas and won't get "milk teeth." I figure she will start to ween herself off bottles and if she doesn't I will definitely start this summer.
So what else is going on, I held my first Board meeting for the Peninsula Children's Auxiliury at my house this morning to discuss our big fundraiser and who does what etc. We have the dates and approved the contracts. It's exciting but we have such a challenge to find new members. I love volunteering but women my age around here don't have a lot of extra time on their plate, not that this organization needs that much time but a little if you want to help with the party. For me there is something so satisfying to help a good cause, I almost wonder if when I decide to go back to work if it will be in the nonprofit sector? I've made a few good contacts lately. But back to finding volunteers I know it will be a big challenge. All I've noticed lately is how people are so damn selfish, and all that matters is themselves and their life and no regard for other people's time and schedules, like the universe only revolves around them and everybody else should act that way.
I think the whole internet thing perpetuates this self absorption obsession, it makes them feel more important than they are. It gets to me too! I hate that after I post a picture on Facebook, I check to see how many likes it gets. I HATE THAT! Why should I care? We announced #2 in a cute way and combined got like over 40 comments, that is major for us, haha. I don't have the time or the energy to write blog entries more than once a week, sorry Sweden, or tweet(but that's all retweets of political stuff) or write cute funny things on FB to get lots of likes. This blog has taken me 1 hour to write already, this takes a lot of time. And all of the Facebook and other things all it does is maintain a persona or perception of yourself that isn't really who you are. What I have realized about myself after having a kid is, these silly things we do for entertainment are not important, that my child saying "gama" for the first time is, watching her naked butt play in the water table is important, not worrying about my fat gut lol. Oh and guess what I can here her playing in her crib, a 2 hour nap!! What the heck? It's dinner time, gotta take care of my man!

And another week
And another week has come and gone, here are some pictures of our little doodle playing in the yard with Coco. She is such a great dog, and so so friendly with Elsa. Elsa has mastered saying "Coco" with the "c" sound it evolved from "dodo" to coco..I know a 3 year old who can't even say his "c's" so we are such proud parents! lol
Jonas and I attended a fundraiser for the Scandinavian School Friday night and had such a great time. The more of their events we go to the more people we know, and I look forward to hopefully being able to put our babies there. We also won a silent auction item, it was a bundle of Swedish kids books and DVD's of some popular old tv series, I think Jonas really wanted it for himself to watch! I don't care, I want Swedish on our TV if it's going to be on. I'm so sick of Baby Signing Time, but it works, Elsa signs to us, so I can't complain.
