All I want...

is a nap, each and every day. I wish I could switch places with Elsa and know that I would get put down into a dark and quiet room every day to sleep for as long as I wanted. There would be no dog bugging me, no cat walking on me, no baby not napping, no laundry to worry about, no sanitizing to think about, no bills to pay, no body parts to shave, no dog poop to pick up, and no car seat that needs desperate cleaning, and no little alien inside of me kicking into my rib cage.....just a nap and nice long restful, energizing nap. I think I used to take those in college, when skipping class didn't bother me and I could literally sleep til I felt rested. Those days are long gone aren't they? I'm just happy these days that Jonas gets up if Elsa cries in the middle of the night, so I don't have to readjust my belly, and earplugs and everything to get up and out of bed and then back in again. You Mom's out there remember, the last 10 weeks or so of pregnancy and the effort to just get comfortable. Yeah, that's where I'm at.

SO, 8 weeks from today is the csection, yay!! I want to meet our little girl, and get back to feeling like me. I was talking to Elsa's vaccine nurse today, because she is enrolled in a clinical trial, which is now done today with the final blood draw. Anyhow Suzy, I love her, so fun to talk to, she has 2 boys. I told her I'm not going to breast feed not even try, and if I could take the magic pill I heard is not allowed in the US to stop your milk from coming in I would. She laughed, she said she had so many friends that didn't with their 2nd kid. I hear this more and more, and it gives me a sense of relief.  I know this is the best decision for me. I want this kid to take a bottle from anybody, Jonas, me, my Mom, the babysitter, you name it, community involvement I call it. Suzy told me she ended up BFing her 2nd because he wouldn't take a bottle and she ended up doing it for 18 months! Yikes! I can't imagine being "on call" 24 hours, ever, for anything. Having a toddler that likes to climb, jump, and get into anything and everything is enough work, a newborn is a lot of work too even without the BFing. So to get through this time ahead in a sane and non martyr-mom way, formula! I also want my hormones to go back to normal as soon as possible. I want energy back and to be my even keeled self.

The last few weekends we have had some fun times, this weekend no plans but maybe to fix up Baby girl's room. I have been rummaging through Elsa's old clothes, too bad a lot of the stuff is mismatched to the seasons meaning when Elsa was in 6 month size it was summer, for this one it will be the dead of winter. But there is a lot that will work no matter what so besides a few cute matching outfits I already bought I shouldn't be and don't need any clothes for her. I've also decided to try out a compostable diaper service. We will see if I like it or not. I put Elsa in one of them overnight and it leaked, but she did get extra milk.

The most surprising yet awesome news is that my 2nd cousin Astrid, will be coming "to help me out with Elsa" for a few weeks in July. Her Grandma is my Dad's sister in Denmark. She is almost 17 and has never been to the states, so while it will be nice to have somebody play with Elsa so I can get those naps, we will also take her around the sights. Jonas and I decided to buy Giants tickets for her, us and my bro and his girlfriend. That will be fun, a real american institution...but if anything AT&T park is so beautiful and the views of the bay are great.

Ok Elsa is napping, so I need to try and get one too. Bye Bye

Not much but..

There's nothing too exciting going on here, just finishing up our Music Together class today, and the last day of gymnastics is tomorrow. This is good because we are now counting down the weeks for baby#2 in combination with the fact that I literally have to chase Elsa around at gym class, and it wears me out! Saturday we are giving Elsa to Grandma so Jonas and I can go to a midsummer lunch at our favorite winery with our friends Amanda and Scott. Sunday my brother is grilling steaks for the whole family for Fathers Day.

I'm starting to get used to having a part time babysitter for 5 hours 2 days a week. It's nice, this little one, tires me out, so being able to just hand her over and go in the back and rest is nice!

Yesterday we went to my moms house to hang out since Jonas was out late for work. I took Elsa in the pool and oh boy does she love the water!! We didn't get any pictures because I was in the pool but we will all be back for the 4th of July, AND my Dad told me today they are getting solar put back on the roof to heat the pool so Elsa won't be chattering. Oh and Coco loves to jump in the pool too, it was hilarious.

Tonight we took a few pictures out on our family walk we do. The lighting is so beautiful this time of year.

August 20th!

Last weekend we finally go to rearranging our guest room to actually fit a pack n play for little sister. We were so productive, I love it! But we will need to move soon, we just don't have enough closet space or storage but we can make this work while the girls are still little.

Anyhow, I had another prenatal appt this week, haven't gained any weight!?? I don't know how this is possible my stomach has totally popped, I'm feeling big and tired. On top of the baby kicking me all the time, so I know she is getting bigger and stronger,  I recall eating, in no specific order, a Cinabon(hadn't had one in 20 yrs or so and I justified it with the pregnancy excuse), a canister of cotton candy(not all in one sitting), McDonalds every now and then, and you know like a ton of mac n cheese and PBJ because that's about all Elsa eats. I drink milk like it's going out of style. But honestly I do eat salads and we have lots of seafood and we take a family walk every night. Plus I am lifting Elsa and chasing her around etc definitely not sitting on my butt like when I was pregnant with Elsa.

My eating this time around has been pretty "normal" considering I couldn't hardly eat anything with Elsa except burgers. This time not a ton of beef like last pregnancy. Maybe that is why my hemoglobin has fallen slightly. I had a blood test for the Glucose challenge which I passed no problem. They took a second vile of blood for a full blood count. The results are fine just now I am taking an additional Iron supplements because of the very slightly lower hemoglobin count.

My OB and I also talked to the scheduler and I begged to have the c section at 38 weeks and no sooner. If you recall the Dr's recommend between 37-38w for a patient like me who had a uterine surgery. I want to keep the baby in as long as possible though. Then my Dr explained to me that even though she couldn't see a scar from my prior surgery, that did not mean, that my uterine wall strength was not compromised especially now with having a c section for Elsa. She said I don't care how close you live to the hospital, you would have less than 5 minutes to get the baby out if you go into labor. Plus it would be difficult  being able to sit in the car because of the excruciating pain of a ruptured uterus. Scary stuff....so now I'm wondering if I should move it from August 20th up to Aug 16th. Bottom line near the end there, I need to really take it easy, no birthday party(my bday is Aug 17th, I'll be ringing in 35 with my second daughter, kind of cool), no stress, I'd love to be bedridden and just sleep as much as possible, but who would watch Elsa?

I do have a babysitter starting tomorrow, 5 hours on Fridays so I can work on my non profit, run errands or just sleep. I might ask her to start on Tuesdays sooner than later, I've just been so so tired. And with that said my friends, Elsa has finally stopped kicking the wall through the slats in her crib and nodded off, which means I need to as well!
