Hiking, Strollers, Baby Shower

Well, the days seem to go bye faster and faster. This past 3 day weekend I went to my families house in the Lake Tahoe area, and my friends Andrea, Per and their son Erik who is 1 1/2 came up. Jonas stayed home because he had work he had to take care of. My friends didn't show up until Saturday night, so Saturday I went on a 6 mile hike at 8900ft altitude. I read that pregnant women shouldn't exercise at altitudes above 6000 ft, but I go up there almost monthly and it's my church. Hiking up there in the beautiful Sierras is just amazing.  This time of year all the blue bells are in bloom and the creeks are full of water because of all the snow this past winter. Anyhow I took a slower than normal pace, and some food, and lots of water and at times I got winded like any normal person but didn't get dizzy or anything out of the ordinary. In fact after sitting on the couch for the first trimester feeling like crap, I was really proud of myself for finishing this hike! But man it kicked my butt for the next 2 days! I did a lot of walking up there these past few days, I think it's the mountain air and the beautiful landscapes, but it's just impossible for me to sit inside! I told Baby T that this is our second home and we will be up there a lot and to enjoy the fresh air! I didn't feel the baby moving around as much, maybe because I was so active, but it kind of worried me because of the whole altitude thing. But now I am home, back at sea level, and sitting on my couch and I am feeling all kinds of kicks! The funny thing is I'm still not really showing, I don't think I'm going to have that nice round baby bump for another month or more!

So, as the days go bye I realize how real this is and that I guess there is no time like now to start looking at strollers and other baby items. I'm going to save the nusery furniture quest for when my Mom is home, but I have talked to many mothers, and looked at a lot of strollers and because of my lifestyle I really think I need a stroller like this. Why? Everything is one purchase, you have your carseat and base, and that clicks into the bigger base. Once the baby grows out of that then they will just be in the stroller.

 I really like Bumbleride too and have actually played with one, it's easy to fold up and go, and are great all terrain strollers, but they are also pretty expensive and we would still need to get the car seat and base.I guess we will have to wait and see, there is only 1 in stock of this Chicco set here on Amazon and we have a few months til the Baby Shower, and it could be gone by then. It's not very common, so I haven't really seen it anywhere else. So the Bumbleride might be the one, which is great I love it, good to hike with!

Speaking of Baby Shower, Jonas and I discussed it last night and made the decision. We are going to have our 2nd Annual Advent Party and this year just add Baby Shower to the event title and put our registries in the invite. Not having a lot of family or female friends in the area makes it silly to have just a girls shower. This way we can have our Holiday party with Scandinavian goodies and Glogg, and celebrate the impending birth of our first child at the same time. I think we will do it on Sunday December 4th since it's the holiday season and there are always company holiday parties every friday and saturday night leading up to Christmas.
